The biggest suggestion i can think of at the moment is a book that is my personal favorite by the name of "Under the Overpass". It is a book about two christian young adults who lived in a pretty upscale placement in society but then they both left that all behind for an idea to live in and with the homeless of 6 homeless cities. That includes picking out of garbage cans and many other adventures.
Another book that I have just started is called Five Aprils I just got it so I don't know too much what it's like but that's what I am reading now
