How to Help and Get Help
Most charities are requesting financial donations rather than goods or clothing. This enables them to use the money within the communities that are most affected. If you are an evacuee or know someone who needs assistance, here are additional resources for evacuees .
American Red Cross

www.redcross.org
1-800-435-7669 or
1-800-HELP-NOW

The American Red Cross has received generous pledges from individuals, foundations and corporations to support Red Cross disaster relief efforts. As with any disaster and subsequent onset of giving, the American Red Cross is working hard to protect the public from misleading, unauthorized and fraudulent fundraising. You may also mail your donation to the American Red Cross Disaster Response Fund at P.O. Box 37243, Washington, DC 20013; or visit one of our official Red Cross donation partners.

Salvation Army

www.salvationarmyusa.org
1-800-SAL-ARMY

The Salvation Army is currently providing services to storm victims and first responders in the Gulf Coast states. A $100 donation to The Salvation Army will feed a family of four for two days, provide two cases of drinking water and one household clean-up kit, containing brooms, mops, buckets, and cleaning supplies

United Way

https://volunteer.united-e-way.org/hurricane-katrina/donate/
1-800-272-4630

United Way Hurricane Katrina Response Fund: Every dollar contributed to the United Way Hurricane Katrina Response Fund will be used to fund services that address both short- and long-term needs of the individuals and families affected by this profound human tragedy. United Way and its partners will cover all administrative costs. Our efforts will be focused on mobilizing and funding services for evacuees, as well as helping families rebuild their lives longer term.

Network for Good

www.networkforgood.org

Provides donations to a number of charities, including the Humane Society of America (for pets) and chapters of the United Ways in Florida and Louisiana.
